Digital Preservation

The Docentes 2.0 Technological-Educational Journal (RTED) guarantees permanent conservation and continuous access to all its contents through the following digital preservation systems:

LOCKSS System / PKP Preservation Network

RTED participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), the official digital preservation system of the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) for journals operating under OJS. This system applies the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) protocol, which distributes encrypted and independent copies of the journal's content among multiple preservation nodes worldwide.

The PKP PN guarantees:

  • Preservation of the entire content of all volumes published since 2018.
  • Permanent access in the event of any technical contingency, closure, or interruption of publication.
  • Automatic integrity verification of the preserved files.

The PKP PN plugin is active on the RTED OJS platform. Deposits are processed automatically with each new publication.

National Library of Venezuela

RTED maintains an institutional archive at the National Library of Venezuela, guaranteeing the physical and digital custody of its contents in Venezuelan territory in accordance with the provisions of the national library system.

Interoperability

The Docentes 2.0 Technological-Educational Journal (RTED) guarantees the interoperability of its contents and metadata through the OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) protocol. Our platform based on Open Journal Systems (OJS) incorporates this protocol to automatically expose the metadata of published articles in standard and structured formats (such as Dublin Core).

This open architecture allows institutional repositories, databases, search engines, catalogs, and global indexing systems to collect, exchange, and disseminate our content smoothly and automatically. This maximizes the visibility, accessibility, and impact of our authors' research in the global scientific communication ecosystem.

Repository Policy

RTED recognizes three versions of each published article:

  • Author's Original Manuscript (AOM): Version prior to the review process. It cannot have been previously published in another journal. It can only be shared in non-commercial personal or institutional repositories, without public indexing, while the article is under evaluation.
  • Accepted Manuscript (AM): Version that has passed peer review and has been accepted for publication. It can be shared after receiving the acceptance letter, including academic networks (ResearchGate, Academia.edu) and institutional repositories, always with a link to the published article's DOI.
  • Version of Record (VOR): Final published version, with layout, metadata, and assigned DOI. It can be freely deposited in institutional and non-commercial repositories, personal websites, and academic platforms, using the DOI as the canonical link.

The use of the DOI in any shared version allows tracking downloads, Altmetric metrics, and citations, contributing to the visibility and impact of the published work.
