Login or Register to make a submission.

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • RTED is published semiannually and implements a scheme based on the editorial cost to cover the operating expenses associated with the publication Consult Editorial Cost which is the charge, cost or amount for processing that some journals require from authors for the publication of their articles in open access. This Editorial Cost is applied to all academic, administrative, teaching, student, and research collaborators. The amount varies according to the number of authors, see the link, and the maximum is seven (7) authors. Consult Editorial Cost
  • Once the administrative fee corresponding to the Editorial Cost has been paid and the process has begun, the author undertakes to process the suggestions issued by the first referee within a maximum of 5 months and a maximum of 1 year for the full completion of the process.
  • The author agrees that, once the process has begun, the journal will not refund the money to the author if they do not comply with the established timeframes for the completion of the peer review process or decide to withdraw the article from the journal once the process has begun. Suppose the author does not submit the corrections within the established timeframe or decides not to comply with the journal's regulations. In that case, the journal reserves the right to reject the article, and payment will not be refunded once the process has begun.
  • In the context of the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the generation of academic content, the author agrees to the following policy to ensure integrity, transparency, and rigor in the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Submission Guidelines

1. Submission and Originality. All submissions must be sent exclusively through the OJS platform: https://ojs.docentes20.com/. The corresponding author must guarantee that the manuscript is original, unpublished, and not currently under review by another journal. The journal utilizes anti-plagiarism software (Turnitin) to verify originality; the maximum allowable similarity rate is 15%, excluding the bibliography and duly referenced direct quotations, where applicable. Should plagiarism or undue similarity be detected, the manuscript will be rejected in accordance with the journal's ethical policies and COPE guidelines. Submissions must relate to the journal's areas of specialization: education, technology, computer science, and related social sciences.

2. Files for Review (Double-Blind Assurance). To ensure double-blind peer review, authors must upload two separate files:

  • File 1 (Cover Page): Title (Spanish and English), full author details (Name, detailed institutional affiliation: Department, University, City, Country), email address, and ORCID (mandatory and active).
  • File 2 (Anonymous Manuscript): Full article text, without any reference that reveals the identity of the authors (remove names, acknowledgments, self-citations, or Word/PDF metadata that could reveal authorship).

3. Structure and Metadata

  • Language: Manuscripts are accepted in Spanish and English.
  • Title, Abstract, and Keywords: Must be provided in both languages (Spanish and English).
  • Abstract: Maximum 250 words, structured (introduction, objective, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion).
  • Keywords: 3 to 5 standardized terms, preferably drawn from recognized thesauri (such as UNESCO, ERIC, or IEEE). They must not literally repeat the title.
  • Metadata: All metadata must be fully completed in OJS (authors, affiliation, ORCID, abstract, and keywords).

4. Format and Length

  • Article types: Original Research, Systematic Review, Theoretical Essay, and Case Study.
  • Research: 6,000–8,000 words | Review: 6,000–9,000 words | Essay/Case Study: 3,000–5,500 words.
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point, single spacing.
  • Tables/Figures: Maximum of 8 each, editable, numbered, and cited in the text.
  • References: Strictly according to APA 7th edition. Authors are encouraged to prioritize recent and relevant literature from the last 5 years, preferably indexed in recognized databases when applicable. Active DOI links must be included for all references that have one.

5. Mandatory Ethical and Legal Declarations. Authors must include a subsection titled "Ethical Considerations" at the end of the Methodology section, describing compliance with ethical and legal research protocols (informed consent, data protection, institutional ethics approval, Declaration of Helsinki, and animal welfare regulations, when applicable). Conflicts of interest and funding sources must also be declared. Authors must have an active ORCID and agree to the journal’s ethical, peer review, and open access policies prior to submission.

6. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy. The Technological-Educational Journal Docentes 2.0 (RTED) adheres to best practices regarding AI use (based on COPE and the Heredia Declaration 2023):

  • Authorship: AI tools (such as ChatGPT) cannot be listed as authors.
  • Disclosure: Limited use for linguistic or technical support is permitted, provided it is explicitly declared in the methodology or acknowledgments (e.g., translation or grammar improvement).
  • Responsibility: Authors assume full legal and ethical responsibility for AI-generated or AI-assisted content.

Shipping and Publication Terms

1. Originality and Pre-evaluation: Only original, unpublished, and up-to-date works that contribute significant theoretical and practical elements to the field of educational technology are accepted. Before initiating the peer-review process, all manuscripts undergo screening using similarity detection (anti-plagiarism) software. Receipt of a manuscript does not constitute a commitment to publish.

2. Review Process: All manuscripts that successfully pass the initial editorial screening undergo a double-blind peer-review process, during which the following criteria are evaluated: originality, relevance, methodological rigor, scientific quality, and ethical compliance. Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest prior to accepting an evaluation assignment. The final decision rests with the Editorial Committee, which bases its determination on the reviewers' reports. In the event of a discrepancy between reviewers, a third evaluator will be assigned. Reviewers are required to maintain absolute confidentiality regarding the manuscript and may not utilize its contents for their own personal benefit. The average acceptance/rejection rate is published annually in the editorial report. Process details: double-blind; 2 external reviewers; average decision time: 16–20 weeks; maximum editorial process duration: 12 months. [Link: View the peer review process.]

3. Open Access and Licensing. The RTED publishes under the immediate Gold Open Access model, with no embargo periods. This journal provides immediate free access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public fosters a greater global exchange of knowledge. In accordance with the definition provided by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), users have the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without prior permission from the publisher or author, provided that such use is not for profit and that appropriate credit is given.

4. Article Processing Charges (APCs). The RTED applies an APC solely and exclusively to manuscripts that have been ACCEPTED after successfully passing peer review. This fee is intended to cover editorial costs related to copyediting, typesetting (PDF, HTML, XML-JATS), DOI assignment, digital preservation, and maintenance of the OJS system. There are no charges for initial submission (submission fees) or for the review of rejected articles. Partial or full waivers are available for institutions with a current agreement in place.

APC effective: 130 – 347 USD, depending on the number of authors.

5. Editorial Independence Policy (Important Notice). The decision to accept or reject a manuscript is based strictly on scientific merit, as determined by external reviewers; this process is completely independent of the author's ability to pay. Once an article has been accepted and the author has paid the APC to initiate the final production phase, the fee is non-refundable.

6. Timeframes: The author has up to 5 months to address major corrections and up to 12 months to complete the entire editorial cycle. [Link: View updated fee schedule]

7. Copyright and Self-Archiving. Authors retain unrestricted copyright and publication rights, granting the journal solely the right of first publication. Immediate self-archiving of the final version (post-print) in any repository or personal website is permitted.

8. Ethics, Conflicts of Interest, and Funding. Transparency and scientific integrity are indispensable requirements for publication in RTED. Therefore, all authors must visibly and explicitly include the following declarations in their manuscripts:

Ethics Statement: Every manuscript must mandatorily include a section declaring compliance with ethical principles (based on COPE and the Heredia Declaration), including approval from ethics committees and informed consent where applicable.
Conflicts of Interest: Authors must explicitly declare in the manuscript any financial or personal relationships that could bias the research.
Funding: The source of funding (institutional, public, or private) must be indicated, or "Self-funded" must be declared.

9. Digital Preservation Policy. The *Revista Tecnológica-Educativa Docentes 2.0* guarantees the preservation of and permanent access to its content through reliable digital archiving systems, including the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and LOCKSS/CLOCKSS services integrated into OJS. All articles feature a DOI registered with Crossref and undergo periodic backups on institutional servers, ensuring the long-term integrity, availability, and recoverability of the published content.

10. Indexing and Repositories Policy. The journal actively manages the submission of metadata to databases and directories (SciELO, Latindex, and others). However, continued inclusion in, and updating within, said indices depend on the external policies of each evaluating entity and are not the direct responsibility of the journal.

11. Retraction Policy. The RTED follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for managing retractions, corrections, and expressions of concern. A retraction will be published when serious errors, plagiarism, data manipulation, duplicate publication, or other ethical breaches are detected that invalidate the article's results or conclusions. Corrections (errata or corrigenda) will be issued when errors do not compromise the scientific validity of the work. In cases of reasonable suspicion, while a potential case of misconduct is under investigation, the journal may publish an expression of concern. Retractions and corrections will be published transparently, linked to the original article via DOI, clearly stating the editorial reasons, and maintaining the document's academic record. The final decision rests with the Editorial Committee, following consultation with the authors and, where necessary, the institutions involved.

12. Open Data Policy. The RTED promotes transparency and scientific reproducibility through open access to research data whenever possible and ethically viable. Authors are encouraged to deposit datasets, code, instruments, or supplementary materials in recognized repositories (e.g., Zenodo, OSF, Figshare, or institutional repositories) and to include the corresponding link or DOI within the manuscript. Where legal, ethical, or confidentiality restrictions exist, authors must explicitly indicate them in the article. Data availability is not a condition for manuscript acceptance.

13. Preprint Policy. The RTED does not accept manuscripts that have been previously published as preprints on open servers or repositories. Submitted works must be original and unpublished, and must not be publicly available in preliminary versions bearing a DOI or permanent URL. Non-compliance with this policy may result in the rejection of the manuscript, in accordance with the journal's ethical guidelines.
