Abstract
In the context of teaching and learning in mathematics, the use of educational technologies is becoming increasingly necessary. The objective of the research was to explain how the use of Symbolab software influences the teaching and learning of equations among students in the first semester of the Professional School of Secondary Education at the National University Daniel Alcides Carrión in Cerro de Pasco, Peru. The research was carried out within the positivist paradigm, using the hypothetical-deductive method, a quantitative approach, and a quasi-experimental design of the applied type at the explanatory level, in the School and University indicated. We used a post-test with an experimental group and a non-randomized control group. The tests were validated using the method: Judgment by experts, and the reliability was assessed using the Kuder Richardson 21, with a coefficient of 0.76. The population was 145 students, and the sample was 75, divided into two groups: 40 in the experimental group and 35 in the control group. Some significant results are: the arithmetic mean of the experimental group was 15, the mode was 17, and the coefficient of variation was 20%; the mean of the control group was 12, its mode was 12, and its coefficient of variation was 22%. To establish statistical inferences, a hypothesis test at 95% was used, and the Mann-Whitney U statistic was applied in accordance with the tests for normality and homoscedasticity. The following conclusions were obtained: It was determined that Symbolab software has a significant influence on the teaching and learning of equations among students in the first semester of Secondary School at the National University Daniel Alcides Carrión, Peru.
